International Seminar with Shihan Cameron in Szczecin, Poland

On June 7-9, 2024, the HUSARIA Dojo, lead by Shihan Radek, has organized the fourth edition of the IKO World So-Kyokushin International Seminar. This year, 180 fighters from 10 countries came to Szczecin, Poland, including over 100 black belts. Our head instructor was Shihan Cameron Quinn (Australia), a long-time friend and interpreter for the creator of Kyokushin Karate, Sosoai Masutatsu Oyama, who responded positively to Shihan Radek's invitation. This year's seminar was devoted to kihon and its applications, with particular emphasis on techniques banned in sports fighting, but extremely useful in real combat and self-defense. The seminar took place in a friendly, even family atmosphere. The participants not only improved their knowledge of martial arts but also made new friendships and strengthened existing ones. All participants had a great opportunity to meet each other during Sayonara Party with live music and dancing :) . The culmination of the seminar was a Dan Test, which took place at the front of an International Board chaired by Shihan Cameron Quinn (Australia), Examination Board consisted of: Shihan Radek Ambroziak (Poland), Shihan Casto (Italy), Shihan Nodari (Georgia), Shihan Jonas (Hungary), Shihan Zembrzuski (Poland), Shihan Godoś (Poland), Shihan Pietras (Poland), Shihan Borowiec (Poland), Sensei Falko (Poland), Sensei Kos (Poland). We would like to thank all participants for their trust and ubiquitous smiles and friendship. We are already inviting you all to the next IKO World So-Kyokushin International Seminar, which will take place on June 6-8, 2025 in Szczecin, Poland.

Shihan Radek in Japan again

On April 8-19, 2024, Shihan Radek stayed in Japan, where he trained and acquired new knowledge: at Honbu Dojo in Naumazu under the supervision of Hanshi Daigo Ohishi (uchideshi of Sosai Masutatsu Oyamay himself), at Monma Dojo in Fukushima under the supervision of Shihan Tomoyuki Monma and in Shizuoka at Dojo Shihan Unno.

The topics of the training included kata, kumite, techniques of working with bo and shiriken, and strength training dedicated to kyokushin karate.

It was a great time spent with friends and people who love Kyokushin Karate. The opportunity to learn from people who have been Sosai's students for many years and have enormous knowledge and skills is something unique. We plan to use this opportunity very often.

The acquired knowledge, new karate and language skills will certainly result in further, dynamic development of Husaria. Another trip to the cherry blossom country is coming soon.

OSU!!

Polish Fullcontact Karate Championships 2024

Polish Championships of the Polish Fullcontact Karate Organization (PFKO) and the Accompanying Tournament UMI NO SHINJU - Sea Pearl. 326 players from 55 clubs and as many as 12 Contact Karate organizations took part in the PFKO Polish Championships, which took place on April 6, 2024, thanks to which the competition between the players was at a very high level. IKO World So-Kyokushin Poland won a total of 43 medals, including: 15 gold, 14 silver and 14 bronze. It is also worth noting that the Szczecin Husaria Dojo (IKO World So-kyokushin) took second place in the general classification. In the accompanying tournament "UMI NO SSHINJU - Sea Pearl", it was equally difficult to win a medal, as 175 players from 33 clubs took part in the competition. The event was organized by the Kołobrzeg Kyokushin Karate Club BUNTAI headed by Sensei Paweł Falko. The championship was held under the Honorary Patronage of the Embassy of Japan in Poland and the Patronage of the Mayor of Kołobrzeg, Anna Mieczkowska. The main referee of the Championships was Shihan Mariusz Godoś (So-Kyokushin) and the technical referee was Shihan Sławomir Dubiel (WKB). Thanks to such a large cast, we had the opportunity to admire the fights of the best players from Poland and even Europe, from many organizations. The competition was held on 5 mats, which made it difficult to know which one to focus on, as there were so many exciting fights! Each mat was run by a professional FightSystem IT system managed by Shihan Radosław Ambroziak and his team from Husaria, thanks to which the competition ran very smoothly and without interruptions. The entire event could be followed live thanks to the broadcast provided by SparingPartner Wiktor Bias. The winners of the senior categories during the Polish Championships, in addition to diplomas, medals and cups, received one-off financial scholarships. The financial scholarships are half covered by the funds of the Polish Contact Karate Association and the other half by the funds of the Championship organizer.

Fighting Seminar 2024

On February 10, 2024, the IKO World So-Kyokushin National Team and candidates for membership in it took part in the 3rd edition of the Fighting Seminar organized by Sensei Jarosław Remus in Bydgoszcz. This year, the invited instructor was the multiple European and Polish Champion, founder of the Dojo Opole Sports Club YAMA - Sensei Konrad Kozubowski, who shared his knowledge, skills and experience with numerous competitors from the country and Latvia.

Our team was closely supervised by Shihan Piotr Zembrzuski, who provided tips and selected new candidates for the short team for this year's European Championships.

Our karate meeting ended with what the tigers like the most - an hour and a half of kumite. Direct exchange of experiences between competitors and people who love karate, crossing gloves in the spirit of ishindenshin 以心伝心, will certainly result in many successes in the upcoming competition season of the Polish Contact Karate Association.

The next staff training camp is scheduled for September 13-15, 2024 in Stara Wieś.

See you soon.

Kagami Biraki 2024

On January 5-7, 2024, we had the pleasure of taking part in the Kagami Biraki 2024 of the Western Polish Fullcontact Karate Organization District, organized by Kyokushin Karate Kołobrzeg Buntai Dojo. The motto of Kagami Biraki 2024 was one of Sosai Oyama's favorite sayings: 一汗一米: "Hito-ase, hito-kome".

During the training camp, 5 training units were held, including two aimed at practical improvement of refereeing skills. Shihan Radosław Ambroziak and Sensei Paweł Falko were responsible for this part of Kagami Biraki.

The remaining three keiko were led by Sensei Marek Wilusz, Sensei Bartek Engel and Sensei Jarosław Remus. The main element of the first keiko was ikken and its practical use in combat. The second keiko allowed us to take a broader look at karate and move away from established patterns during training. Sensei Bartek focused on the elements of kata and the use of previously learned ikken. The last keiko was focused on kumite. We refined the fighting tactics and ended with what the tigers like the most - kumite.

The seminar time is not only about training and hard work, but also about spending time together and integrating. True to the saying "a team is built in the locker room", we also spent this weekend building and strengthening relationships at evening meetings, at the swimming pool, during meals and at every possible moment! We would like to thank all participants of the training camp for the great atmosphere and we are already looking forward to another such event. OSU!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year 2024

World Championships 2023, Japan

The Polish team's stay began with a week of acclimatization, during which our compatriots visited Tokyo and Kyoto and completed several training units, including: at So-Kyokushin Honbu Dojo, aimed at getting our competitors moving before the main start. Our team performed excellently in the World Championships, fighting many excellent duels and winning many of them in both kata and kumite. Traditionally, the most difficult opponents for the Polish team were Japanese players, fighting on their own soil and in front of their own audience. As a result of the sports competition, three of our representatives won significant trophies, including:
Natalia Hajn – won the title of World Vice-Champion in junior lightweight kumite
Julia Iwan – won the title of World Vice Champion in junior heavyweight kumite
